Wifx L1 4G: the Wifx L1 you know, now with 4G backhaul

The Wifx L1 4G joins the Wifx gateway family: everything that makes the Wifx L1 easy to deploy and dependable in the field, with cellular (WWAN) backhaul added for sites where no wired connection is available.

Same design, same LoRaWAN performance

The Wifx L1 4G keeps the proven design of the Wifx L1: an ultra-compact, discreet enclosure rated IP65, built to withstand the most aggressive environments and operating from -30 to +60 °C. It is powered through a single passive PoE cable — or USB-C — and configured from a modern, clear web interface, without any specific skills required. The LoRaWAN side is unchanged: SX1302 concentrator, 8XX (863-870 MHz) and 9XX (902-928 MHz) regional variants, and native compatibility with the main LoRaWAN network servers — ChirpStack, AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN, Actility, LORIOT, The Things Network, and any server supporting Semtech UDP, BasicStation or ChirpStack MQTT.

Where the cable can’t go

Its 4G backhaul (LTE Cat 1bis, up to 10 Mbit/s, nano SIM) makes this gateway ideal for remote locations where connection options are limited: no Ethernet cable, no fiber, no problem. And with a typical power consumption of 1.5 W, it can even run from a limited energy source such as a small solar installation. The result is LoRaWAN coverage in places where your data was previously unreachable — remote agricultural plots, far-flung utility sites, temporary installations and difficult terrain.

Managed from anywhere

The Wifx L1 4G runs LORIX OS, our stable, secure and regularly updated operating system. WWAN settings are available directly in LORIX Manager and its web interface, you can reach the gateway remotely through Wifx Connect, and over-the-air updates keep it current without a site visit — including delta updates that reduce data usage on mobile connections. As with every Wifx gateway, the open Linux system leaves you free to customize it for your project.

The Wifx L1 4G is available in its 8XX-EU version (863-870 MHz, LTE for Europe, CE-certified), with a 9XX-AU variant for Australia on the way. Discover it on its product page: Wifx L1 4G.
